choosing order
I. When shaft diameter is the first designed requirement,choose shrink disc in the product catalogues following selected shaft diameter dw and check whether corresponding maximum transmittable torque Mt satify torque needs or not. Otherwise,if torque is the first requirement, select necessary torque following proper types from catalogue,then find out corresponding shaft diameter(dw).
II. Check dimension and strength of shaft and hub following selected shrink disc. External diameter d of hub or empty shaft is in keeping with shrink disc internal diameter.The minimum end face can transmit stated torque safely.
III. The listed rating torque Mt and rating axial load Pmax in catalogue is arranged following transmittable maximum value，not contains safe coefficient. When checking,we should consider starting and impacting load.
IV. The relation between transmittable torque Mt and shaft diameter dw is linear function connection.We do not list all rating torque which corresponding shaft diameter in type catalogue,but we get transmittable torque of certain shaft diameter using inside insert ways.
V. Illustration:
To couple a shaft with 103mm,we want to install a shrink disc and its maximum transmittable torque is 12400Nm.Select the type of shrink disc.
The first step:shaft diameter is near to 100mm；
The second step：In standard series 71 specification table，find out corresponding shrink disc type –SD140-71 which shaft diameter is 100mm.Using insert method to calculate transmittable torque is 19100Nm with shaft diameter- 103mm.It is between 17600Nm and 20100Nm.
The third step:Check the dimension of shrink disc and design the drawing.
The fourth step:Find out specified machining tolerance and proper fits.Namely,H7/h6 for shaft and hub bore and f7 for hub outside diameter.
The fifth step：selected shrink disc is ordered as follows：shrink disc SD140-71.
Matters need attention：
To ensure the listed torque and axial load in catalogue，it is important to mark screw’s tightening torque Ma when designs.
Do not worried about screws loosing,for shrink disc and screws bear force at a standstill.
